Things i wish i could tell my younger self

I turned 21 this month and believe me when I say I already feel old.  I’m changing and growing up with each passing moment and maybe that’s the reason I feel full of wisdom as compared to my older self. So while basking in this “I’m-all-grown-up-now” glory, I decided to share a few words of wisdom with my 13-year old self. Only if there was a time machine!


  1. Growing up ain’t fun.

Believe me when I say this. Enjoy being a kid as much as you can. It’s completely fine if adults don’t take you seriously or you have to do homework. At least you don’t have to worry about bills, mortgage or getting a job.


  1. Being cool does not mean being a jerk.

You want to roll with the cool kids. I totally get it. But being mean and rude isn’t cool. And please don’t play dumb and don’t fail on purpose to be ‘like’ them. Not cool.


  1. Be proud of who you’re.

You should embrace your true self with all the qualities and all the flaws. ‘You’ matter and not somebody’s  opinion of you.


  1. You’re beautiful.

Kids in school can be real mean. They call you names but don’t you listen to them. They are a bunch of foul mouthed little punks. Don’t believe what those bullies say. You’re beautiful and you have an amazing heart. If those kids can’t see it, it’s their loss. Huge loss.


  1. No, it’s not love.

Your body is changing. You are feeling what  you never felt before. Hold your horses. That jerk who treats you like dirt isn’t ‘the one’. He is definitely not your true love. It’s the hormones talking. Relax!


  1. It’s okay if you don’t have many friends or any friends.

You’ll make friends one day. Don’t worry. Nothing’s wrong with you. You just have not met the right kind of people.


  1. Don’t change for the world.

Because when you act or pretend to be someone you’re not, you lose your true identity somewhere in between.  Don’t you ever change to please someone as you’re amazing just the way you are.

Amidst beauty, skincare, fashion and health, there’s one thing that we often forget – stress. Healthy living is incomplete if you don’t have a healthy mind.


Stress affects:

  • Sleep
  • Metabolism
  • Skin quality and elasticity
  • Digestion
  • Where your body stores fat and how much
  • Performance and recovery while exercising
  • Energy levels
  • Immune system
  • Mental/emotional health

Since, we have your attention now, let’s talk about stress management. Yes,  stress can be managed and we tell you how.

  • Know your stress to manage it.

Yes, stress has types. Mainly two. One, the type of stress you can control like the quality of food you eat and the amount of exercise you do. Two, the type of stress you cannot control like where you live, weather, having to work and earn money. You have to focus on the stress you can control.


  • Find your biggest stressor.

Sit back and focus. What is that one thing that bothers you the most? What is your biggest stressor?  Once you have found the culprit, we can easily move towards our next step.


  • Pick your activity.

Since you have identified your stress, it’s time to beat it. Pick any of the stress management activity of your choice and get going.


We have a few suggestions for you:

  • Drawing, coloring, painting
  • Learning a new language
  • Playing an instrument
  • Walking/hiking
  • Sitting in the park
  • Meditation
  • Deep breathing
  • Light yoga

So, go on and beat the hell out of stress and stay happy cos HAPPINESS IS YOU.

When you talk to yourself,  what do you say? Do you motivate yourself with kind, empowering words like you do when you speak to your loved ones, or are they more negative? Many people attack themselves on a daily basis in their own minds, which can ruin their self confidence. Check out these thoughts that you need to say goodbye to so that you can focus on self improvement.

  • “It’s too late to do anything about it now .”

Whether you are 16 or 60, you can always change and improve. Often inner peace and strength are gained through a lifetime of learning,  and these skills can completely change your outlook on life. Remember that you are a work in progress.


  • “None of this is my fault, it’s their fault. “

It is very easy to blame others for everything,  because you don’t have to do anything yourself. If you don’t change or improve, so more than anything,  you won’t grow. Accept responsibility for your mistakes so that you can improve your life and find happiness.


  • ” I wish today was over”.

Sometimes you will do something that feels like a waste of time, but later turns out to be one of the best decisions you ever made . Do not wish your days away- you never know when the next amazing thing will happen. So throw yourself into experiencing  and enjoying every day.



  • “I want to be comfortable- being uncomfortable is scary”.

Outside of the comfort zone is where great things happen. Say goodbye to this thought by taking risks and putting yourself out there will help you reach your full potential and to grow as a person.



  • “I have lost too much to continue”.

One perspective; I have lost everything and it is awful.  Another perspective;  now I have nothing, I am truly free to try anything without the chance of losing everything.  Life is all about mind set. If you choose to be fearful your choices will be limited. Say goodbye to this thought by choosing to be strong and brave,opening up endless possibilities.

Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well being defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from fulfillment to intense joy.

 Happy he who learns to bear what cannot change is not merely a quote but a reality. When you accept the reality and start moving ahead in your life with that reality, you can become happy and mentally content with your own actions.


 In life there are many things that might sadden you but it does not mean that you end up living a depressed life.

Here are a few tips that will help you overcome your sadness.

  • Whenever you feel sad or depressed, try to do things that you like. it can be sleeping, reading a book, going out, listening to music, watching your favorite show on netflix or any other thing you like to do.



  • After a period of time when you feel relaxed, accept that particular life experience which according to you was not that good. Assess your situation and start taking steps to overcome it.


  • You had a bad experience. Try to find the good in it. Ask yourself what went wrong and most importantly what did you learn?


  • When you start taking things in a positive way, you start feeling happy.


So take things in a positive way, make yourself happy cos’ HAPPINESS IS YOU!

They are dreamy, delicate, easy to do and are always perfect for every occasion. Braids have been attracting a lot of attention on the runways and red carpets. Here is to give your hair a makeover without having the need to chop them off.




  • Apply hair serum and detangle hair. Now, create a pouf in the centre of your head using a tail comb. Tease your hair to add volume to the pouf.
  • Now, from the end of the pouf, weave the hair into a twisted messy braid by dividing your hair into two parts while twisting both sections. Tuck it with a bobby pin near the nape.
  • Tease the end of the braid with a tail comb for the messy look.
  • Tie the ends with a rubber -band.




  • Blow dry your hair to make it easier to style.
  • Take about 2-inch section of your hair from the front left side.
  • Tie the rest of the hair in a neat ponytail.
  • Now start braiding the section on your left.
  • Braid it till the end of the hair strands.
  • Now take the braid over your head to the right side.
  • Secure the braid with bobby pins. Add a cute hair accessory such as a jewelled clip.



  • Divide your hair in two-sections.
  • Now take thin strand from left section and take to other side.
  • Tuck the strand into the right section.
  • Keep taking small sections and keep making braid in the same way.
  • After you finish making the braid, secure with a hair tie.
  • Avoid using hair spray to retain the messy look.
