Amidst beauty, skincare, fashion and health, there’s one thing that we often forget – stress. Healthy living is incomplete if you don’t have a healthy mind.


Stress affects:

  • Sleep
  • Metabolism
  • Skin quality and elasticity
  • Digestion
  • Where your body stores fat and how much
  • Performance and recovery while exercising
  • Energy levels
  • Immune system
  • Mental/emotional health

Since, we have your attention now, let’s talk about stress management. Yes,  stress can be managed and we tell you how.

  • Know your stress to manage it.

Yes, stress has types. Mainly two. One, the type of stress you can control like the quality of food you eat and the amount of exercise you do. Two, the type of stress you cannot control like where you live, weather, having to work and earn money. You have to focus on the stress you can control.


  • Find your biggest stressor.

Sit back and focus. What is that one thing that bothers you the most? What is your biggest stressor?  Once you have found the culprit, we can easily move towards our next step.


  • Pick your activity.

Since you have identified your stress, it’s time to beat it. Pick any of the stress management activity of your choice and get going.


We have a few suggestions for you:

  • Drawing, coloring, painting
  • Learning a new language
  • Playing an instrument
  • Walking/hiking
  • Sitting in the park
  • Meditation
  • Deep breathing
  • Light yoga

Don’t hate the DIET anymore!


When you love eating, losing those extra kilos or shedding that stubborn fat becomes a huge struggle. I know that everyone hates even the mere idea of a diet, but since you want to get fit and in shape, you go on a diet anyway. And going on a diet means abandoning an entire major food group (read: pizza, cheeseburger, fries, cupcakes and what not!) you normally prefer eating.


Fret not! You can get in shape whilst eating your favorite food. Yes, it’s possible. I never gave up on my favorite food and still managed to get in shape. You can too.



First of all, you need to make your mind. You have to set a goal for yourself and be determined to achieve it. Just remember, you are doing this for you and not anyone else. Your body goals should be realistic and not influenced by those of your best friend or a VS model. So, once you have made up your mind, you start taking steps to come closer towards your set goal. You exercise and make notable changes in your diet which for you means no pizza and no cupcakes. The exercise part is already tough and the diet part makes the whole thing a torture.  But, let me remind you again, you don’t have to stay away from bae (read pizza). If I can do it, so can you.


The key is to eat in moderation. Want to eat a cheeseburger or some fries? Go ahead. All you have to do is eat small portions.


Diets always have a negative approach. You starve yourself and stop eating your favorite food. You always feel hungry and are never satisfied. In the end you give in to your cravings and you’re back to square one.



Honestly, to get a diet to work, you don’t have to starve yourself or give up your favorite food. Have small portions of those delicious things you love eating. Treat yourself after every few days of exercise and don’t forget that the key is moderation. Also, you should never overeat. Ever. Make sure you’re doing extra crunches and squats for that slice of cake you ate at the office party (those abs don’t come easy).IMG-20140707-WA0001.jpg

Healthy Living, because your body deserves it!

Why should we take care of our bodies? Well, first of all, because our bodies are the only place we  live in for our whole life. We may find a new house or new car to replace the old one,but we can’t replace our bodies. They are our temples and for once, let’s treat them with the utmost care that they deserve.



Eat a healthy and balanced diet. Never skip a meal or go on a special diet. Those fad diets only harm our bodies in the long run. Start your day with  a dash of lemon and honey added to lukewarm water. Drink lots  of water throughout the day. Reduce the intake of caffeine. Eat fresh fruits. Always prefer fruits rather than juices as fruits contain more fiber.


Always wash your face morning and night. Maintain a cleansing ritual to get glowing skin. Never sleep with your make up on. Apply sunscreen generously and yes, even on a cloudy day.

Stay active. If the idea of exercise doesn’t appeal to you, find an activity that you love. Go for trekking, play football, join a dance class and what not. Opt for a fun workout that makes you forget about working out. Make exercise a fun experience.

When you eat well, sleep well and take care of your body; you elevate your life!

Exercise even if you have 15 minutes to do it

A short gym routine is better than nothing if you are really strapped for time or just plain exhausted. If you don’t have time to get to your gym but have 15 minutes before going to shower, do jumping jacks. You will feel better especially if you spent  your day sitting at a computer. You don’t need an hour to loose weight but just 15 minutes in your daily routine. Most of you spend time sitting idle when actually you can use this time, these 15 minutes to stay fit.

In 15 minutes you can easily do a full body workout. You can go for a few exercises daily that can help you loose weight. Some of these are:

  1. Jumping jacks: These get your heart racing within seconds and fill you up with energy.
  2. Crunches: A great way to work on your abs.
  3. Squats: They work wonders for your thighs.
  4. Rope jumping: A good form of cardio which lengthens and strengthens your muscles.
  5. Cycling: There’s no exercise that is better than cycling if you want to get rid of those extra kilos quickly and efficiently.
  6. Push ups: A proven way to tone your arms.
  7. Sit ups

Not only these exercises but few changes in your routine can help you stay fit. You can go for walking. Walking alone can help you loose weight. 15 minutes walk and you can end up loosing extra calories. People take lifts and escalators but if you want to loose weight you should always opt for stairs. A little change can make a big difference.
